Brighter Bites featured in Harvard Agribusiness Seminar

Brighter Bites recently participated in the Harvard Agribusiness Seminar as one of 12 case studies presented. Around 185 executives of food system-related firms from around the world attended to learn more about trends, challenges, demands and opportunities within the current food system.

“We are thankful to Harvard Business School faculty and business leaders who provided invaluable input to strengthen our business model and achieve greater impact,” said Shreela V Sharma, Brighter Bites co-founder.

As a case study participant, Brighter Bites was able to gather insight from various business professionals from around the world to help further its mission. Furthermore, attendees were educated and informed on Brighter Bites’ program and commitment to building communities of health nationwide.

Brighter Bites named a MyPlate National Strategic Partner

Fresh produce nonprofit organization Brighter Bites has become a National Strategic Partner for MyPlate.

Brighter Bites joins other retailers, restaurants, suppliers and media outlets that have partnered with MyPlate to support the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans and help consumers across the country develop healthy lifestyles.

“We are proud to be a partner of an organization that not only matches our mission but also reaches so many families and individuals nationwide with an approachable guide to healthy eating,” said Rich Dachman, CEO of Brighter Bites. “As we continue to grow our program and reach more families nationwide, we are honored to be surrounded by so many other companies with similar goals. Brighter Bites distributed more than 445K bags of produce this past school year

Brighter Bites, a national nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands, concluded its most-recent programming season with incredible numbers as a result of support from key industry partners.

Since fall 2022, the nonprofit has distributed over $17 million in retail cost of produce, including 287 fruit and vegetable varietals to the 51,615 families enrolled in the program. Additionally, across the 263 program sites across the country, Brighter Bites implemented 25,357 nutrition education lessons and physical education activities to 103,891 students to continue its mission of creating communities of health through exposure and learning.

Texas House Passes Resolution in Honor of Brighter Bites

On March 12, 2019, Brighter Bites made Texas history when the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature passed H.R. 777 to “honor Lisa Helfman for her work as founder and chair of Brighter Bites and extend to her and this noteworthy organization sincere best wishes for continued success.” State Rep. Sarah Davis read the resolution on the Texas House floor, noting that “Lisa has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the well-being of young Texans as the founder and chair of Brighter Bites.”
