Make a Difference Today!
Brighter Bites is serving families in San Diego with the support of our partner, Feeding San Diego.
1 in 4 (25%) San Diegans experience nutrition insecurity and one in six children face hunger in California. Brighter Bites is the nonprofit that delivers fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands. We teach families how to use the produce and watch their behavior change.
Do you have a passion for fresh fruits and vegetables and helping families in need? Brighter Bites is your chance to help kids turn healthy habits into healthy lifestyles. If you’re in the San Diego area, consider volunteering your time or donating today to make a difference for local families.

What We Do
Brighter Bites is a nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands. We teach them how to use it and track their behavior change. We make it fun. We make it free. And we make it happen via a simple, three-part formula:
Our Not-So-Secret Formula
PRODUCE
DISTRIBUTION
Every week of programming, Brighter Bites heads to schools and summer camps to distribute fresh, seasonal produce for families and teachers to pick up and take home. Two bags contain about ~50 servings of fruits and veggies, weighing close to 20 pounds.
NUTRITION
EDUCATION
We teach kids, parents, and teachers how to make the most of their produce. We encourage teachers to utilize their bags during in-class lessons and we provide nutrition education handbooks, plus weekly tip sheets and recipes, for everyone to use at home.
FUN FOOD
EXPERIENCE
Brighter Bites staff engages with families through in-person culinary demonstrations, as well as through various digital platforms through the sharing of easy recipes, kitchen how-tos, culinary tips, and healthy topics.
